SkiFinder Retail privacy
Mel Designs, LLC · Updated 2026-10-17
This release uses ski preferences, sizing answers and optional feedback for store-specific recommendations. It does not collect customer email, enroll customers in marketing, or share identifiable customer records with retailers. This privacy information works offline.
Questionnaire and recommendations
The connected kiosk sends questionnaire answers and derived ski preferences, height and weight information or ranges, recommended lengths and displayed results to our service. We use these for recommendations and personalization from the store’s eligible assortment. Session and profile identifiers associate recommendations, preference adjustments and feedback with the current visit.
Feedback is optional. There is no customer email entry, results-email delivery, marketing enrollment or retailer contact-sharing feature in this release. Public phone QR access is not activated; the service can create a time-limited capability associated with results, but the app does not provide public phone access.
Device security and diagnostics
The store iPad has an authenticated device identifier and a server-assigned retailer and store location. Public-key information, signed requests and short-lived sessions authorize service access. The private signing key remains on the iPad.
Operational data includes app and configuration versions, status and synchronization times, question timing, accepted interaction events, device/browser type, screen size and error categories. Hosting providers process network addresses and request diagnostics. We do not request GPS location, contacts, photos, camera access or HealthKit records.
Use and service providers
Mel Designs, LLC uses information for recommendations, personalization, feedback and experience evaluation, service reliability, recovery and device security. Vercel hosts connected services and Upstash stores operational records. Operational monitoring, email alerts to the operator and encrypted recovery tools are separate from customer email delivery. Authorized processors may handle service diagnostics and encrypted recovery backups. Retailers are not given identifiable customer-record access through this app. Store staff may see results displayed on the shared kiosk; avoid leaving personal information on that screen.
The audited native kiosk flow does not use advertising tracking, cross-app advertising profiles or data-broker sharing. Customers do not need to create a personal account or make an in-app purchase to use the questionnaire.
Reset, choices and retention
You may stop the questionnaire and use Return to Welcome or Start Over to clear the kiosk’s current answers. Resetting does not necessarily delete server records, service logs or backups, and does not delete the store’s registered device. You can choose not to provide optional feedback. Session, profile and device identifiers can link records; we do not describe these records as anonymous.
The current consumer service logically expires customer session records after approximately 24 hours and prunes them during subsequent operations. The storage snapshot also has a refreshed 24-hour expiration. Device registration and managed configuration history persist for store operation. Provider logs and encrypted recovery copies may remain longer than active sessions. The iPad also keeps its store presentation cache and launch selection for recovery; those are not cleared by a customer session reset. Complete erasure after 24 hours is not promised.
Long-term product-improvement archiving, 30-day identifiable-session retention and 12-month email-linked retention are proposals, not active features of this release. This release retains the existing temporary-record expiration behavior described above. There is no self-service access or deletion control.
Privacy questions and deletion requests
For privacy questions, access or deletion requests, email privacy@mel-designs.com from your own email account. You may copy the address below. Include only the store and approximate visit time initially; do not send passwords, device fingerprints, questionnaire answers or other sensitive information. We review what records can reasonably be located, verify a request before releasing information, and consider security obligations and recovery copies. A reset is not a deletion request, and deletion from all logs or backups is not automatic.
Isolated sample demonstration
Explore sample kiosk uses fictional skis and fixed illustrative results. Answers and sample feedback stay in memory, are cleared on reset or exit, and are not sent to store services. Email and sharing are disabled in the sample. The sample does not run live recommendation scoring. Connected-kiosk disclosures apply when the authorized live experience is used.
